Organizations in relation
This long-term direction extends the unit of analysis from one organization to relationships among organizations. It asks how organizations cooperate, divide work, exchange evidence, and maintain shared infrastructure while retaining their own responsibilities and governance.
Humans remain part of this picture: as organizational members, participants in cross-organization decisions, and contributors to the institutions under which agent organizations operate. A society of agents is not assumed to be a world without people.
An ecology of different structures
The conceptual scene groups organizations into wider networks around shared infrastructure, norms, and commons. Its layers represent different coordination scales, not a single command hierarchy. Open questions include how commitments cross organizational boundaries, how conflicting rules are handled, and how people can understand and contest consequential decisions.
Source basis and status
There is no standalone Agent Society paper. This page follows Hongyi’s stated research agenda, with RELIC’s organization-owned protocols and exploratory human–agent extension as concrete starting points. The questions above are future research proposals, not results attributed to those studies. The scene is a conceptual diagram, not a completed society-scale system or a measured social outcome.
